Resolved to get healthier in 2018? Join our LMQC bloggers to create a plan that will work for you, right here in the QC. We’ll include tips on how to enhance fitness, improve nutrition, de-stress, build strength, and more in 2018’s “8 Weeks to a Better You”!
Aryn Lloyd and Jeni Tackett, Rock Valley Physical Therapy, start us off with some great advice, to write down our reasons for wanting to change and post them where we can see them frequently. It will make a difference throughout the challenge, especially when we encounter setbacks (as we inevitably will). So pull out your pen and paper and get started today!
Aryn Lloyd: When I ask my clients why they want to start exercising, usually they say they are motivated because they want to be there for their family, and they want to look and feel better.
I rarely hear negativity or people comparing themselves to others.
Write down your answer, and look at it often.
It will serve as a positive reminder of why being physically active is important to you!
Jeni Tackett: We all have unique reasons we want to live a healthy lifestyle.
Focus on the positive changes that can result by changing your diet: increased energy, lowered cholesterol, or weight loss.
Take some time to evaluate your motivation, write it down, and post it where you need the reminder the most: at work, on the refrigerator, or near your bed. Or maybe in several spots!
