Let’s Move with QC Walking, Hiking, Biking Groups

Looking for someone to walk, hike or bike with? Local groups give you some options. Visit their websites for more information!

Blackhawk Hiking Club

Black Hawk Hiking Club conducts hikes weekly or bi-weekly at a variety of sites, both public and privately owned, in and around the Quad Cities area.

Hikes are scheduled from November to early June with only one event, the Annual Big Hike, held during the summer months.

The Club takes pride in the fact that in its years of existence, no scheduled event has ever been cancelled.

The Club’s objective is “the promotion of outdoor recreation in the form of hikes and outings, camping and canoeing, while encouraging the love of nature.”

Quad Cities Womens Outdoor Club

The purpose of the club is to:

Promote activities at all skill levels with an eye toward environmental awareness and education,

Safety in the outdoors,

The development of skills designed to encourage independence,

Provide a pleasant social environment for women to network while pushing themselves to new heights.

Quad City Audubon

QCAS is dedicated to the enjoyment of birds.

Field Trips are the primary means by which we go about the enjoyment of birds.

QCAS has at least one field trip – a visit to a local habitat for the purpose of observing nature – every month.

While our focus is usually on birds, we observe all aspects of nature, and we occasionally schedule a trip primarily on plant life.

Quad Cities Bicycle Club

The QCBC schedules rides throughout the year for riders of all capabilities and ages.

It is the mission of the Quad Cities Bicycle Club to promote, encourage, and support the safe participation in bicycle riding of all ages and abilities, as well as to anticipate and address needs and interests of all aspects of bicycling in the Quad Cities area.

  • Wednesday morning rides
  • Weekend Leisure, Mid-Paced and Fast-Paced rides
  • Family rides
  • Spring Tailwind Century Ride
  • Summer evening rides
  • TOMRV in June
  • Heartland Century Ride in September
  • Fall Foliage Ride in October
  • Organizes and Sponsors The Quad Cities Criterium in May

Walk with a Doc

WWAD is a non-profit organization that encourages healthy physical activity in people of all ages, and reverses the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle.

Join our monthly Walk at 1:15 p.m. We begin at Eastern Avenue Park, 2900 Eastern Ave., Davenport. 1:30 – brief health lecturette, and then Walk with healthcare providers in a casual setting. Do as much, or as little, of a 3-mile course at your own pace.

We have a unique partnership of physician and veterinarian, and promote both human and animal health. Feel free to bring a furry friend or two.

River Benders Cycling Group

River Benders Cycling Group is a group of social cyclists who just ride for a good time.

Be it along the Mississippi River bends of the Quad Cities trail system with brewery stops along the way, weekend trips to new explorations, or as a group to support out-of-area rides we’re there for the fun and fellowship!

We stick to mid-pace rides and welcome in newbies just looking to connect with others who enjoy cycling and stops.

The Cornbelt Running Club

The Cornbelt Running Club is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting running and walking in the bi-state area. Check out their weekly runs!

Friends of the Hennepin Canal

The Hennepin Canal is one of the most interesting and historic trails winding through the QC region. There are locks, aqueducts and a beaten path for horses, walkers and cyclists who can learn about local history on a flat grade!

The Friends of the Hennepin host “Canal Walks” frequently.  Check out their schedule here.
