We’ve all been floored by the overwhelming amount of positive responses we received for our Favorite View contest!
I have enjoyed reading everyone’s suggestions; some places I’ve visited before, others are new to me, but I’ve made a list of places I definitely need to go visit!
Thank you to everyone who participated by sharing your favorite spots and submitting your photographs. It has been incredibly difficult to select a winner because there have been so many incredible photos!
After long deliberation and careful consideration, we’re happy to announce that Stephen Burroughs is the winner of our Favorite Views contest, with his awesome photo of Prospect Park in Moline!
Prospect Park has been a part of Moline since it first opened in 1911, but remains relevant to this day. You’ll find roughly two miles of trails of varying difficulty, that were paved in 2011, a century after the park opened, as well as a disc golf course, a fishing pond, and a lovely gazebo.
Stephen took this photograph on his first visit to the park. He brought his daughter there to take some pictures when the pond caught his eye, and he just had to snap a shot of it.
It turned out great! I was really drawn to this picture because of the contrast between the green trees and blue sky, as well as the sharp reflection in the water. It’s a really wonderful photograph, so thank you Stephen for submitting it.
Is Prospect Park going to be the spot where you have a wild adventure? Probably not, but it offers the opportunity to get active outside without having to go too far from home.
As Stephen said, “it’s really a great hidden gem in Moline that many don’t realize is hiding there.”
Now that we’ve got it on our map, let’s all get out at visit this gem as soon as possible!
Thank you again, Stephen, and thanks to everyone who entered. By helping us fill Our Favorite Places map, you’ve helped create an incredible resource for all of us in the Quad Cities area to use. Now let’s all get out there and explore!
